Hi, this is my first post on the slow site. I got interested after reading 'in praise of slow by Carl Honore'. I have suffered from stress and anxiety for some years now and have tried all manner of ideas to try and combat the issue. I am starting to think now though that maybe I could not see the wood for the trees and by slowing down in everything that i do life is so much more rewarding. I must admit that I have to be conscious throughout my day of slow as habits can be hard the brake, but the rewards for me have been that my anxiety levels are low and my sleep has improved ten fold. I mean life is just short and precious to be rushing round and getting all stressed out. Working in the City of London can be testing for a member of the slow movement but I will prevail. Best wishes to you all and remember to go slow

I know what you mean. I work in the film industry in LA and for years I behaved as though there was no time for anything. If I wasn't successful already my life was a big waste, waiting for the moment when I actually got successful before I would allow myself to start living. Now I appreciate life more and more and have come to realize that if I wait to live I may die only having looked at an unsatisfied tomorrow and everyday losing today. I have become so much more serene and happy in life. Additionally, I find it so hard, being in LA, to relate people about Slow movement. It is good to know that there is a forum here to allow us not to feel like an insane minority. But the movement is strong and I feel that pretty soon we will not be.
