Tracey Smith has to be one of the most vocal downshifters. Not only are she and her family experienced and dedicated downshifters, but Tracey works tirelessly to raise awareness of the benefits and necessity of this way of life. And she does it all while keeping the lifestyle that she so cherishes.

National Downshifting Week in the UK and USA are her creations – www.downshiftingweek.com

National Downshifting Week pulls together the threads of simpler living, supporting the local community, endorsing charitable behaviour, the organic approach, positive attitudes towards recycling, perspective on the use of time, investment in the family and more besides.  The net result of this benefits the health and welfare of the nation and local and global environments

International Downshifting week runs the last week in April. It has been designed to inspire us all no matter what our social situation or which context ie individual, family, company, school, to find a better quality life. Tracey highlights ways we can live simpler, happier lives and be kinder to the environment at the same time.

In between enjoying life and her family and organising downshifting week events, Tracey has written articles on downshifting for numerous magazines and papers including: Sustained Magazine, New Consumer, Free Range, Venue Magazine and Inspiring Life Magazine. She has also found exposure for her cause in radio and television.
